Bedroom Makeover on a Budget

One of my favorite places to decorate is the bedroom.  One of the spare bedrooms in our home which is also our guest room,  was in need of a change, but I didn't want to spend a lot of money. Ok, truth be told, my hubby didn't want me to spend a lot of money, because he knows how fast I can do that!

Anyhow, the room was originally painted a pale blue, and looked pretty terrible with the trim color.  So first things first, we needed to paint.

I decided to go with Ventana (11-25) by Pratt & Lambert. I thought it went well with the trim and had some nice undertones that went perfectly the pretty blue & white bedding I already had.

Then I needed a couple of night tables and purchased 2 of the Birkeland night tables from Ikea for $129 each.

I also purchased 2 table lamps at Ikea for $49.99 each.

Then I made a quick trip to Home Sense to find a few finishing touches.  I found a very Restoration Hardware looking mirror for $50 which was a bit too grey for what I needed, so I  just rubbed a bit of a brown stain on it and it actually turned out pretty close to the color I wanted.

I also picked up a small linen tuffted chair, a peice of art and a small side table all for under $300.  I already had a floor lamp and another framed picture, so that was it.  Here is the finished room.

Have a great day!!

Since Christmas Day is just around the corner, it's time to start wrapping!  I have always enjoyed dressing up gifts with pretty paper, ribbon, and ornaments. Who doesn't enjoy receiving a beautifully wrapped gift?  Here is some Christmas wrapping inspiration for you:

Christmas Party

Last week I was busy helping one of my clients decorate his holiday table for a staff Christmas Party.  He didn't want it to be too formal, but still wanted to have a table decorated and set for 16 people.  I decided to go with natural linen tablecloths, glass votives, fresh simple flowers in mason jars, and a large flower arrangement for the kitchen island where appetizers would be served.  This is also the same client I have been helping finish his newly renovated bungalow.  It's still not quite finished, but if you remember this Post  I did as an update, you can get a sneak peak at the finished fireplace in the background of one of the photos below.

Have a great week everyone!

Outdoor Fireplaces

The one thing I'm really excited about when we start building our home is having a wood burning fireplace on our deck.  The evenings can be a bit chilly here in Calgary, and one of the things me and my hubby love to do is sit by a warm fire while still enjoying the great outdoors.  Here are a few pics I have found to help inspire our design.

I know it's been awhile since I have posted anything, but I hope to get back to it on a regular basis again.  Thanks for stopping by!

Fall Decorating

I know, maybe a bit too early to start thinking about Fall, but really it's just around the corner.  Fall is my favorite time of year.  I love the leaves changing colors, the warm sun on cooler days, cozy sweaters, pumpkins, and all the beautiful fall colors like burnt orange, red, mossy greens, and yellows.

Fall is also a great time to change up your home decor. The stores are filling up with all things fall for the home.  Here are a few ideas to add a little fall feel to your home...

Add a simple wreath to your front door, this one's available at Pottery Barn

Change out your lanterns with pumkins, leaves, and any other fall type objects

Different colored pumpkins make a nice display on your buffet, or kitchen island

Add a little fall flair to your front porch

And if you can carve like Martha Stewart, make a pumkin display with your family's initials

Have a great day!!
