Fall Decorating

I know, maybe a bit too early to start thinking about Fall, but really it's just around the corner.  Fall is my favorite time of year.  I love the leaves changing colors, the warm sun on cooler days, cozy sweaters, pumpkins, and all the beautiful fall colors like burnt orange, red, mossy greens, and yellows.

Fall is also a great time to change up your home decor. The stores are filling up with all things fall for the home.  Here are a few ideas to add a little fall feel to your home...

Add a simple wreath to your front door, this one's available at Pottery Barn

Change out your lanterns with pumkins, leaves, and any other fall type objects

Different colored pumpkins make a nice display on your buffet, or kitchen island

Add a little fall flair to your front porch

And if you can carve like Martha Stewart, make a pumkin display with your family's initials

Building our Bungalow - Kitchen Design

Well, as we get closer to digging the hole, it's time to start thinking about the kitchen design.  I have a million pictures of kitchens saved, so you think it would be easy to put one together... but it's not.  I'm off to see the kitchen design guy later today, and these are a few pics I'm taking with me...

 I like the simple shaker style cabinetry & wood range hood

 As you can see, I like the shaker style cabinetry... love the wood range hood in this one too..

 I also like the corbels on this range hood too.

I don't want anything that I will get sick of a few years from now, and the above are all very classic and timeless.  Now it's just to put the configuration together.  Stay tuned....

Maybe I'm a little bit ahead of myself, but I am looking for artwork for our new home.  I have come across many different artists, but I'm really liking the work of Sarah Atkinson....

 

I really love the dress photos.  Hmm perhaps a theme I'm seeing in the art I like lately. (see my previous post on Janet Hill's art).

Decorating Your Foyer

There are so many different ways to decorate your foyer.  Whether you have a grand entrance or a small one,  you can make it look beautiful and welcoming with a few simple ideas.  Here are a few ideasphotos for you to try out in your own home.

Make is simple by using furniture you may already have in your home, add a lamp, pictures, artwork, a rug, and change out or move accessories and objects you already own.  Have fun with it!

Inexpensive Art

I subscribe to Houzz which is a website where you can find a ton of home interior pictures to use as ideas for your home.  This week they had a post on affordable art for your home, but really only gave you a sneak peak to some of the artists.  Here are a few of my favorites that I found on etsy.com. 

The first is by an artist named Hadley Hutton

The rest of these are by Canadian artist, Janet Hill.  Her art has a vintage feel to it to that I love.
