Building our Bungalow - Move it Time

The house is finished!! We started moving in last week.  We ended up moving ourselves with some help from some great friends.  OMG what were we thinking not hiring movers!!  The stuff you accumulate in such a short period of time is crazy.  Anyhooo.. most of the stuff is moved, so now it's about getting settled in.

We love our new house and it is slowly starting to feel like home. I promise to share some photos once we have everything unpacked and in place, but in the meantime, here is our completed kitchen (at night).  Love love love .....

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Building our Bungalow - Update

I know it's been awhile since my last update.  I just haven't had much time lately to sit down and blog. Since my last post, the entire house has been painted, including all the doors & baseboards, some of the lighting has been installed, and the tile is being installed.  Some of the countertops arrived yesterday, so now I can kind of see how everything is going to look.  So far so good!

Here are a few photo updates for you...

Here is the great room. We think the ceiling is awesome.  The wall paint is Benjamin Moore Bennington Gray & the trim color is BM Dove Wing.

The kitchen with the pendants hung.

The tile has stared to be installed in the shower.

The marble countertops went in yesterday and we love them!

More of the tile going in on the floor.... The wall paint is Benjamin Moore Manchester Tan.

Here is the kitchen backsplash. We did a little herringbone style just above the stove area.

The flooring will be installed in a few weeks, then the carpenters come back to hang all the cabinets, doors, install knobs & handles. Still lots to do, but every day something changes.  That will really transform the look of the entire house.  It's been fun so far to see everything come together!

Building Our Bungalow - Kitchen

Happy Friday everybody!  Lots of progress over at the house!  The carpenters are completing all the woodwork and I'll have some updated photos of the living room and kitchen this weekend for you to look at.  In the meantime, I'm continuing to post some of the finishes around the house.

Today I thought I would post the Kitchen.  We are going with soft white shaker style cabinetry with a stained island and a touch of stained beadboard as a backdrop in some of the cabinetry.  Countertops will be Caesarston quartz, stainless sink and faucet, with brushed satin nickel hardware.  Here is some of the inspiration and finishes we're going with.

Have a great weekend!

Building our Bungalow - Project Update

Hello and Happy Holidays!  I thought I would take a few minutes and give you a bit of an update and a sneak peak of some of the inspirational pictures that we used to design our home.

This kitchen (left side of photo) was designed by Nam Dang Mitchell.  I liked how she used dark stained bead board in the open shelving below the cabinets, so I decided to do that in our kitchen beside the space where the refrigerator will go, except taking it all the way from the backsplash right up to the top of the cabinets.  The cabinets will be all glass.

Here is the start of "fridge wall" and the beadboard backsplash cabinets.

This photo I found on "Houzz", this is the inspiration for our pantry area desk just off the kitchen.

And here is the start. There will be a few modifications like a cork board and crown moulding to match the rest of the kitchen and mudroom lockers.

The above 2 photos were the inspiration for the mudroom lockers.

Ours will have doors & drawers all across the bottom, but we'll keep the top open for basket storage.

Here are the doors, we went with a traditional 3 panel shaker style look throughout the house.

Here is where the freestanding tub will go- can't wait to see the wainscoting painted!

Our own design - The walk-up bar in the media area on the walk-out level.

Well, I hope you enjoyed our little update. More to share with you soon!
